Hey Peeps!

So I have spent all of the last two weeks in bed trying to breathe and thanking my lucky stars for the invention of the internet! Without the aforementioned interwebs I would have probably spent the last two weeks going totally bonkers which, given my current level of bonkersness, would not have been a good thing at all!

Not only did I watch an obscene amount of Netflix (love you Netflix) I also got myself a Kobo Mini ereader courtesy of the lovely peeps at Money Supermarket. They contacted me and asked if I would like to review a purse friendly travel gadget for their “Inspect A Gadget” initiative …….. of course I said yes. There were a few different gadgets to choose from but I plumped for the ereader because I’ve wanted one since I was in Dubai last year and my iPad just couldn’t cut it out in the sun.

So, the Kobo Mini arrived the other day and I lost no time plugging it in, setting it up and browsing the books available….

First off it’s tiny but in a nice way; it weighs nothing (well 134 grams but it feels like nothing), it really is pocket sized (5″ screen), touch screen and has wifi. You can also customise it with the clip on covers which I like; I also like that no one can tell what you are reading….queue my obsession with cheesy romances being fully explored (can you say Mills & Boon?). Oh yes thats right I said it Mills & Boon baby! Well that and some Science Fiction compilations too.

I love this little thing and I have to say it would be amazing to take on holiday; it’s readable in the sun, it will store a myriad of books (I usually pack around four or five paperbacks for a one week holiday), it’s lightweight and tiny so no arm ache or twisting yourself into weird positions on the sun-bed to be comfortable reading it and at £49.99 (WH Smiths are currently 17% off and free postage) it’s affordable too. I have to say I like the idea of the bargainacious alternatives to travel gadgets for the simple fact that, I personally, would worry less about actually using it by the pool and/or on the beach or leaving it unattended in the hotel room or villa. What are your thoughts?

  • After putting it off for a while I recently treated myself to a Kindle and I absolutely love it! I agree about e-readers being great for travel, and I love how lightweight they are too 🙂
Also, I can't believe I've only just stumbled across your blog, I love it! I hope you're having a lovely weekend 🙂 xxx
